PLOT SUMMARY:
Based on the 19th novel CARMILLA, by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, this
modern day mystery/thriller, tells the tale of a fateful day where
ANTHONY, a police detective returns home unannounced after a
twenty year absence. His quiet, subdued homecoming is cut short with
the sudden news that GABRIEL, the village outcast has gone missing.
Simultaneously, in an old, dilapidated mansion in the outskirts of town,
an authoritarian FATHER - HENRY and his weary son,
CHRISTOPHER have had yet another fight about his late beloved
mother, HELEN. At the entrance of the town, a stunningly beautiful
mysterious young woman, CARMILLA walks defiantly into town. A
storm breaks suddenly with a deafening thunderous crack, stopping
everyone in the town in their tracks. Just as Carmilla crosses the
bridge, the impact of the lightning causes an enormous tree to crash
down behind her blocking the only bridge that connects the town to the
country road, cutting off any kind of entrance or exit. Unfazed and
almost more energized, Carmilla continues her trek towards the town.
Unbeknownst to all, this will be the day that changes their lives forever.
Like the Four Horses of the Apocalypse, all the players (the villagers,
the Detective, the Priest, Christopher, Henry and Carmilla) have been
brought together to settle an old score. The stage is now set for the final
act of an ancient drama, better known as Revenge.

CARMILLA is a female action heroine and franchise character that
appeals to broadest demographic. CARMILLA follows in the tradition of
blockbuster mystery thriller franchises, such as THE VILLAGE,
TWILIGHT and THE OTHERS.

THE DIRECTOR:
ABEL FERRARA is an iconoclastic artist who has straddled the line
between mainstream Hollywood studio movies and fiercely
independent pictures. Ferrara is a world renown auteur who has made
commercial entertainment films that have earned considerable
revenue, garnered cult followings and high praise from critics. Ferrara's
best-known films, which include infamous BAD LIEUTENANT,
immortally played by Harvey Keitel; the seminal gangster classic KING
OF NEW YORK, starring Christopher Walken; and the controversial
Dangerous Game, starring Harvey Keitel and worldwide singing
sensation, Madonna. His films are always on the cutting edge and
possess the richness required to fill the multi-layered distribution and
marketing campaign that is planned for CARMILLA.
THE LOCATIONS:
The team proposes to shoot the picture in New Mexico, USA where the
mysterious locations of the natural landscapes will enhance the
supernatural tones of the script.
MARKETING:
CARMILLA's multiplatform marketing campaign has established
partnership with the leading marketing firms and will capitalize on an
innovative, cutting edge social networks and virtual worlds which will
reach the wide audience around the world.
DISTRIBUTION:
